Cordeaux School is the only one of Louth’s three major secondary schools to express an interest in acquiring Academy Status. The school cannot lodge a formal application yet because it is does not have “outstanding school” status.
The Department of Education has not yet released the date upon which non-outstanding schools can apply, but it is expected to be later in the year. If it is successful, Cordeaux could soon be the only Louth secondary school to be operated outside the control of the local authority; a fact which could significantly differentiate it from Monks Dyke in the minds of parents.
Schools are expected, but not required, to consult with parents before they lodge a formal application.
What do you think of academies? If you are a Cordeaux parent, will you support an application?
